With his intelligence, passion for science and dedication, Mr. Thao has not only helped the company to develop and improve the workers’ lives but also contributed to the ideal scientific works which have been highly appreciated by the society.

Mr. Hoang Duc Thao shall be certainly considered as a true scientist if looking at the list of scientific works with many national and international prizes that he has participated in research. When being asked about his scientific research, he said: "I am not a professional scientist and I has not received any salaries nor used the State budget for my scientific research. I have not researched science to get achievements or for any orders. I have researched science because of my passion and the urge issues of life." Indeed, the youthful and dynamic style makes him like a businessman than a scientist. It is the reason why many people were surprised when meeting him and witnessing his successes in the science and technology. The achievements of his scientific and technological research and application have contributed significantly to building the image and brand of Vietnamese Science and Technology in the international arena.

Firstly, it is very difficult and takes us a lot of time to research science, but Hoang Duc Thao finds everything seem pretty "easy" with many good scientific and technological works successfully researched and applied by him and his colleagues in the company within 5 years. He currently is the author of 19 scientific works. His researches have not only been widely applied bringing about practical effect on economic - social development and environmental protection but also been appreciated by many scientific organizations and prestigious professional organizations in and out of the country. The Minister of Science and Technology issued 14 patents and useful solutions for his scientific products; 4 gold medals of Techmart ASEAN + 3 in 2009; The Ministry of Construction issued 5 Certificates of Appropriate Technology to allow application all over the country and export; 16 Certificates of qualified products satisfying the quality standards issued by Quality Assurance and Testing Centre 3 (QUATEST 3). Busadco’s scientific and technological products have not only been thoroughly applied in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province but also been widely applied in many provinces and cities all over the country and exported to Malaysia.

Hoang Duc Thao is also a "Vietnamese recordsman" in science and technology with the following records: The first citizen of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province won Vietnam scientific and technological creativeness prize (Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations - Vifotec), this record was recognized in 7/2008; The Vietnamese has owned the most projects awarded Vietnam scientific and technological creativeness prize (Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations - Vifotec), this record was recognized in 1/2009; The first Vietnamese has won the most prizes of international scientific and technological creativeness organizations, this record was recognized in 12/2010.

In spite of having a passion for scientific research, Hoang Duc Thao has not forgotten his task as the "captain" of Busadco boat. Being appointed as the General Director of Busadco in 2003, under his leadership, from a small scale enterprise, Busadco quickly developed to become a strong enterprise, significantly contributed to the economic - social development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.

Hoang Duc Thao has a special talent for combining scientific research with doing business. The result of the scientific and technological application itself has decided the results of manufacture and business of the company for many years. The business indicators have increased suddenly. In comparison with 2004, in 2010: the turnover increases more than 20 times, profit increases 10 times, budget remittance increases 163 times, employee increases 7.5 times, average income increases 2.5 times (from 4/2011 average per capita income increases by 50% compared to 2010).

Busadco was issued the Certificate of Scientific and Technological Business by the Ministry of Science and Technology; Busadco became the first Scientific and Technological Business of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province; Busadco is one of the first three Scientific and Technological Businesses of the country and is the only business with the turnover from Scientific and Technological products accounts for over 80% of total company’s turnover; Busadco is the only business was decided to be exempted from income tax by the Prime Minister in order to prioritize scientific and technological research and development.
