It was the information from the Hero of Labor, Dr. Hoang Duc Thao, Chairman cum General Director of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Urban Sewerage and Development Company (BUSADCO) on 30th April. This is the only Vietnamese business winning the Prize of WIPO awarded by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for the Best Vietnamese Business in 2013. Especially, Dr. Hoang Duc Thao was also awarded the Prize of WIPO for the author of the best works in the year.
After years of extensive research and application in urban areas in Vietnam, up to now the works "Researching and applying BUSADCO precast reinforced concrete technical trenches with thin walls in laying-out the urban technical infrastructure underground in Vietnam", (referred to as Busadco technical trenches) has been highly appreciated by the World Intellectual Property Organization and the Vietnam Fund For Supporting Technical Creations (VIFOTEC). This works together with series of other useful works studied and applied successfully in 2013 by us helping us to become the only business winning the Prize of WIPO. In this year, WIPO awarded the prizes to three works and a business; awarded Gold Cup of Vietnam intellectual property in 2013 to five excellent businesses in the application of intellectual property system; especially Busadco received 2 of 4 WIPO prizes and 1 Golden Cup of intellectual property”, added by Dr. Hoang Duc Thao. Previously, this works had also been awarded the first prize of Vietnam Science and Technology Creativeness (Vifotec prize in 2013) by the Vietnam Fund For Supporting Technical Creations (VIFOTEC).
According to Dr. Hoang Duc Thao, the situation of “excavation and filling down” has been a serious problem existing in many urban areas in Vietnam for many years. Excavating and filling down the roads has caused difficulties in management, operation, and maintenance while the requirements of installing, repairing the lines of electricity, telephone, fiber optic cable ... are frequent and force majeure. In order to overcome this situation, Dr. Hoang Duc Thao and his colleagues have extensively researched to produce "the technical trenches" with the initiatives and solutions in “laying-out the urban technical infrastructure underground” such as fiber optic cable, power supply device, water supply device ... All these devices were put in one technical trench with each different compartment. So, although launched in 2010, this works has attracted customers because of its useful features. The technical trenches was manufactured by precast reinforced concrete using sulfate resistance cement, it is anti-corrosion, anti-erosion, with compactness, highly dense, "ultrathin" only from 5-8cm helping people to save urban underground spaces, land; to reduce the excavation of pavements and roads and ensure the urban beauty. This solution brought high economic efficiency due to lowering product prices, saving raw materials, reducing investment cost, being convenient for construction and installation, maintenance, operation of the underground works system. The technical trenches has been widely applied in the construction of technical infrastructure in many urban areas all over the country such as: Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Quang Ngai, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hung Yen ... Particularly in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, recognized the usefulness of the product, PPC required to use the technical trenches in the projects of renovating, upgrading and constructing urban roads.
