Ba Ria - Vung Tau Urban Sewerage and Development One Member Limited Company (BUSADCO) is the second scientific and technological business of the whole country and the first business with the income generated from scientific and technological products reaching more than 80% of the revenue. Busadco scientific and technological products have not been only widely applied over the whole country but also exported abroad.
According to Mr. Hoang Duc Thao, the General Director of Busadco, previously, the reason why in the rainy season, the urban areas in the province were flooded frequently because the system of urban technical infrastructure was not invested synchronously, drainage system was old and unsystematic, the quality of sewer was seriously downgraded ... Particularly in Vung Tau City, most of cross roads, chequered roads and alleys ... without drainage system, or they were not connected to the drainage network. The wastewater mixed with rainwater and flowed over to the beaches causing pollution of tourism environment, urban areas, surface water, groundwater and air...
Since Busadco came into operation, the inundation and environmental pollution have been reduced. Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has actively prevented widespread flooding and deleted some locations of local inundation where flooded for many years. Furthermore, all wastewater has been transported out of the city; it has not been directly discharged into beaches, resorts, preventing the bad smell coming from inside the sewers, manholes, pits collecting surface water. The bad smell from the regulating lakes in Vung Tau is also minimized. "We research and apply science and technology to solve the urgent demands of life, protect the environment, serve the targets of sustainable development " – Mr. Hoang Duc Thao said.
Currently, Busadco scientific and technological products have been thoroughly applied in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and they are propagated in 30 provinces and cities over the whole country (in which, there are 8 Provincial People's Committees issued the regulation on applying Busadco technological products in locality). Especially, all the wastewater collection, treatment and drainage projects using ODA funds, funds of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are applying Busadco technology. Particularly, the decentralized wastewater treatment system project for Dien Chau town (Dien Chau district, Nghe An province) “ordered” by the Ministry of Construction was completed and waiting for appraisal in order to be promulgated the decision for applying nationwide. In order to develop the market, Busadco has built many plants manufacturing scientific and technological products in the North, the North Central, the South Central and the South East ... Besides, Busadco products are also exported to Malaysia.
"Results of applying Science and Technology decide the efficiency of production and business activities" - Mr. Hoang Duc Thao said. Comparing with 2004, in 2010, Busadco revenue increased 20 times, profit increased 10 times, remittance to the State budget increased 163 times, the average income of employee increased 2.5 times, profit margin on capital is over 20%/year. From 2004 to present, Busadco has been evaluated and classified as A grade in financial activities by the PPC.
SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL APPLICATION OF BUSADCO
* In the field of mechanical and machinery manufacturing technology, there are three scientific works: Sewer cleaning winch machine; Vibration technology applied for manufacturing reinforced concrete with thin walls and Tidal gates for regulating, diluting and scouring contaminated water bodies to reduce environmental pollution in the canals, ditches and "dead" lakes.
* In the field of biotechnology: decentralized domestic wastewater treatment system.
* In the field of building material technology: Building the plants manufacturing all kinds of precast reinforced concrete structures with thin walls used in the field of technical infrastructure and environmental protection. There are 16 products have been manufactured by using this technology line (utility solutions) serving construction and environmental protection.
