On 31st October, a workshop “Strengthening the competence of water supply and drainage sector in Vietnam” was taken place in Vung Tau City. The workshop was organized by German Water Partnership, Ministry of Environment and Public Health of Bavaria (Federal Republic of Germany) in collaboration with Ba Ria - Vung Tau Urban Sewerage and Development Company (Busadco). Mr. Tran Minh Sanh, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee attended the seminar.
According to the statistic of Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association, currently there are 70 companies operating 450 large and small water supply systems with a total capacity of 7million m3/day. In addition, the urban drainage has been also developed strongly; the wastewater treatment has been interested in investment to meet a part of the urban development requirement. However, besides the achievements, the water supply and drainage sector has been limited in the rate of coverage for urban water supply, the rate of fresh water loss...
At the workshop, German experts presented many speeches, shared the experience in minimizing water loss in the network; the effectiveness and sustainability of water supply; applying the advanced technology in water supply and drainage. The workshop also aimed to strengthen the cooperation between Vietnam and Germany in the water sector with the large projects which has been and will be deployed; meanwhile, the options for wastewater treatment in rural areas with low connection rate were proposed in the workshop.
