(SGGPO).- In the afternoon of 23^rd December, in Ha Noi, the Club of Scientific and technological Journalists (S&T, belonging to the Journalist Association of Viet Nam) coordinated with Vietnam Center for Science and Technology Communication (belonging to the Ministry of Science and Technology) to organize a ceremony to announce 10 outstanding scientific and technological events in 2015 and commemorate its 10^th annual operation.

10 evaluated outstanding scientific and technological events this year are including 6 fields: Policy mechanism (3 events); social sciences, humanities and nature (1 event); basic research (1 event); research and application (3 events); science and technology; international integration (1 event) and scientist honoring (1 event).

Specifically, 10 outstanding scientific and technological events in 2015 are as follows:

1. The Prime Minister met unprofessional and young scientists. On 12^th May, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology held the "meeting of the typical unprofessional inventors in 2015" for the first time and "the meeting of the typical young scientists in 2015"on 11^th September. The attendance of Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung - Prime Minister in two mentioned meetings confirmed the special concern of the Party and State Leaders for the unprofessional and young scientists. This is an opportunity for the scientists to report their operation results as well as propose to the Party and State the appropriate mechanisms, policies that can contribute more to the country and the scientific foundation.
2. 2. TECHFEST VIETNAM From 15^th to 17^th May, the Ministry of Science and Technology organized the TECHFEST VIETNAM 2015 at Vietnam National University, Ha Noi (VNU). The first festival day attracted more than 1,000 participants including managers, scientists and technologists, start-up businesses, investors, institutions of venture investment funds and famous international incubator businesses. Specially, there were over 50 scientific and technological start-up businesses participating the exhibition and investment connection. After this event, many units have organized a series of seminars to connect local start-up businesses with domestic and foreign investors.
3. Inauguration of Center for Research and Technology Transfer, Technological inspection at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park: On 29^th October, Hanoi People's Committee organized the inauguration of Center for Research and Technology Transfer, Technological inspection at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park. (Thach That District, Ha Noi). The Center with an area of 2.1 hectares is the largest scientific and technological inter complex of the country and offers jobs for 200 scientists. This center will be a major research location of the country where research cooperation programs between Vietnam and foreign countries are gathered.
4. International Scientific Workshop on 250^th anniversary of Great Poet Nguyen Du’s birth (1765-2015). On 8^th August, in Hanoi, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences organized the International Scientific Workshop on 250^th anniversary of Great Poet Nguyen Du’s birth (1765-2015) with the theme " National Great Poet, Nguyen Du - World Cultural Celebrity: Heritage and immortal values". The workshop was a place where the readers and researchers of Kieu story and Nguyen Du could meet, where the voice of empathy, unanimity and echo about the spiritual values awarded to the posterity by Nguyen Du could be expressed. This workshop was also an opportunity when people could widen, exchange and promote cream values of the Vietnamese classical literature as well as Vietnamese culture to international friends.
5. UNESCO recognized two International Centers of Mathematics and Physics of Vietnam as the 2^nd class Centre. During the 38^th Session of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris (France) in November 2015, the establishment of the 2^nd class Vietnamese Center of Mathematics and Physics was approved under the sponsorship of UNESCO. In 2015, UNESCO has recognized 17 of the 2^nd class Centers of basic science including two Vietnamese Centers of Mathematics and Physics. In the current context of international integration, the establishment of the International Centers of Mathematics and Physics recognized and sponsored by UNESCO would raise the position of Vietnamese Science, make Vietnamese Science and Technology further integrate with the region and the world.
6. The first time of kidney transplant has been successful who donating kidney with heart stopped beating. On 18^th June, at Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC), two kidney transplants for two patients suffering terminally chronic kidney failure were successful from the donating person whose heart stopped beating and blood stopped circulating. It is the first time when the kidney transplant has been performed from the donating person whose heart stopped beating in Vietnam. It is also the result of Science and Technology theme with national level "Research and Development for a kidney transplant from the donating person whose heart stopped beating" with the code KC.10.28 /11-15 (Dr. Nguyen Truong Son is as head of the theme). The success of theme gives hope for hundreds, even thousands of patients in need of kidney transplant and reduces costs for them when they go abroad for treatment.
7. Assembled reinforced concrete components for protection of riverbanks, lakes and dykes. Technological solution of “Assembled reinforced concrete components for protection of riverbanks, lakes and dykes” of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Urban Sewerage and Development One Member Limited Company (BUSADCO) expresses an unprecedented newness and creativeness in Vietnam and all over the world. This solution has the structure of synchronous adjoining system including cube, pillar and binding beams to keep the stability. This also has assembling structure to avoid shoving, slipping, faulting, landslide and erosion…This product is precast in the factory, so it is easy to control the quality and work progress. Besides, the construction progress is only one-third of the time in comparison with the conventional solution due to overcoming the disadvantages of weather, climate and hydrology. This solution is convenient for the operation and maintenance. The cost of construction investment is reduced by at least 20% compared with the conventional solution.
8. Successful firing demonstration of new weapon. On 18^th September, General Department of Military Industries and Manufacture organized a fire demonstration of new weapon. This is a product of the scheme No. KC.NQ06 and some Ministry of Defense’s independent tasks chaired, researched, designed and put on the test manufacture by the General Department of Military Industries and Manufacture. With the careful preparation and strict execution of the rules during the firing practice, the demonstration of firing succeeds well and ensures the absolute safety. Most of the products of the scheme No.KC.NQ06 and some of independent topics have quality levels approaching the quality of abroad similar products and high reliability being suitable for fighting condition of Vietnam.
9. Vietnam is honored in top 3 of ASEAN on global innovation index. World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in combination with Cornell University (USA) and INSEAD Business Institute (France) publishes the Global Innovation Index 2015. Accordingly, Vietnam was ranked the 52^th among the total of 141 economies, increases 19 ranks in comparison with the last year. This is considered as a spectacular rank increase of Vietnam by the investment for scientific and technological development in the last year, especially since the Law on Science and Technology comes into effect. According to the global innovation index, Vietnam was still ranked the 7^th in ASEAN before the year of 2010, our country surpassed Philippines, Indonesia in 2013 and surpassed Brunei in 2014. This year Vietnam surpasses Thailand to be honored in top 3 of ASEAN on the global innovation index.
10. The first Vietnam female scientist awarded the L'Oréal –UNESSCO. On 18^th March, at the headquarter of UNESCO in Paris (France), Dr. Tran Ha Lien Phuong, the lecturer of Biomedical Technological Faculty - International University (National University in Ho Chi Minh City) was honored to receive the award "The talented young scientist of the world "of the L'Oréal-UNESCO funds (for the development of women in science) for the research work of cancer treatment. Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Ha Lien Phuong stressed that it was necessary to create drug types which are not only efficient but also with reasonable price for the benefit of patients in the developing countries. This research way could contribute effectively to the cancer treatment in Vietnam.
