Ba Ria – Vung Tau Urban Sewerage and Development Company (BUSADCO) – has just won the second prize (Best in Class Award) of Asia Pacific Quality Organization (APQO)

This is the only Vietnamese enterprise winning the prize in big service field – form of Services Enterprise and this is the highest award of Vietnam within the framework of this award.

Previously, Busadco has excellently won the Gold prize - National Quality Award in 2011 and nominated to attend International Asia - Pacific Quality Award (IAPQA) by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Annually this award is only given to one big service enterprise of one country.

The award is based on seven criteria of Malcolm Baldrige (MBA) – The United State with the specified maximum marks such as: setting the consistent vision and mission of the business, establishing suitable policies and strategies and committing to reach the excellence...

For the award of this year, BUSADCO participates with two main service fields: public activities in urban drainage and scientific and technological research and application. The company has attained over 600 marks on the maximum of 1,000 marks. The company has won the award with the strengths in the fields including: management quality, scientific and technological research and application and product quality.

Drainage management model has focused on a specialized clue, associated the construction investment with the operation of the system, associated the public activities with the business activities, associated the research with the production and distribution as well as consumption of the products. BUSADCO products have been able to cover all over the country as well as to be exported. The Ministry of Construction and Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association consider Busadco as one of the best companies operating in this sector.

The Hero of Labor, Mr. Hoang Duc Thao – the Chairman cum General Director is the only Vietnamese individual winning "Vietnamese Green Line" award – the greatest prize of Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association and many noble national and international awards. Management capacity of the company is reflected in project management and the company has managed six ODA projects with the capital of 300 million USD. These six projects will bring to the province a modern and complete wastewater treatment system with the treatment capacity up to 120,000 m³ /day.

Up to the present, the company has successfully researched 3/5 science – technology fields including: In the mechanical technology for machinery manufacturing, BUSADCO has researched and applied successfully 03 scientific works with 03 useful products of environmental protection including Sewer cleaning winch machine; Technological line of manufacturing pre-cast reinforced concrete products with thin walls and Tidal gate system for regulating, diluting and scouring contaminated water bodies to reduce environmental pollution at channels, canals, “Dead” lakes. In Biological technology, BUSADCO has researched and applied successfully scientific works including Decentralized domestic wastewater treatment system; On-site treatment system for wastewater from hotels and restaurants; On-site treatment system for wastewater from seafood processing facilities.

In Construction materials, BUSADCO has constructed 06 plants which manufacture all pre-cast reinforced concrete products with thin walls for technical infrastructure and environmental protection, they are located in Vung Tau, Ba Ria, Nha Trang, Vinh, Thai Binh and Hanoi. With this technology line, Busadco has invented 15 works and useful solutions with 20 products serving technical infrastructure and environmental protection, contributing to the construction and development of the urban and rural areas.

The Ministry of Science and Technology has issued 15 patents for invention and useful solutions for BUSADCO scientific products. At the same time, the Ministry of Construction has issued 05 the Certificate of appropriate technology to allow technology transfer and product application all over the country; Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality – the Ministry of Science and Technology has issued the certificates of meeting design standards and allowed the application. BUSADCO scientific and technological products have been applied widely in 45/63 provinces and cities in the country. Especially, there have been 09 Provincial People’s Committees issuing the guideline to apply Busadco technological products in their provinces.

So far, the company has won 6 Vifotec awards, 4 gold prizes of Techmart Asean + 3 in 2009; 1 special prize, 2 gold prizes and 1 silver of Seoul International Innovation Fair (SIIF) in Korea in 2008, 2009; 2 gold prizes of Scientific and International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) in Malaysia in 2010, 2012; 1 WIPO pride of the World Intellectual Property Organization for the most excellent scientific and technological work in Vietnam in 2009, Vietnam Environment Award in 2010 and National Quality Award in 2011.
