TPO - This morning (on 3^rd June) in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) held the 7^th National Delegate Congress (term of 2015-2020).

The General Secretary and the delegates visited the exhibition area of scientific and technological achievements on the occasion of the 7^th Congress of VUSTA.

The Congress had the honor of welcoming the General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to attend and make a speech on guidance. The participants of the Congress also included Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan - Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Mr. Dinh The Huynh - Member of the Politburo - Secretary of the Party Central Committee - Head of the Central Department of propaganda and training; Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and many leaders, former leaders of the Party and Government.

Reviewing the last term, VUSTA said it was focused on improving the quantity and quality of members, especially the young intellectuals; there were many plentiful and creative activities with remarkable results and VUSTA became an organization holding the key role in gathering, uniting and motivating the scientific and technological intellectuals to actively participate in the settlement of the tasks of socioeconomic development, build and protection of the country.

Making the speech at the Congress, the General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized: the talented and righteous is the life – sustaining element of the country. Knowledge is always the foundation of social progress. Intellectuals of Vietnam are the creative labor force holding the particularly important role in the process of building and developing the country, especially in the period of promoting industrialization, modernization and international integration, building the knowledge economy, developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbrued with the national character.

For the next term (2015-2020), the General Secretary calls the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations’ attention to promoting political and ideological education to help scientific and technological intellectuals with a deep awareness of their responsibility and fulfillment of their duty to the country and nation.

At the same time, the good virtues such as patriotism, social activeness, humanism, ethicality, lifestyle according to the national tradition should be promoted; the training of professional knowledge and professional ethics for intellectuals especially the young intellectuals should be interested in; the people with practical and effective contribution should be appreciated and honored.
